VNG Annual Congress

A greenhouse converted into a high-quality conference venue for over 3000 visitors

VNG organizes an annual conference for all council members, municipal secretaries, clerks, aldermen, and mayors of the Dutch municipalities. This is the largest conference in the Netherlands. Heuvelman Sound & Vision B.V. has been the audiovisual partner of this conference since 2013.

In 2024, the conference took place in the Green Heart (the municipalities of Alphen aan den Rijn, Gouda, and Woerden). A greenhouse from Hoogeveen Plants was converted into a venue, with all the challenges that entailed. Considerations had to be made for a lot of glass, a lot of light, a lot of heat, and limited height.

Heuvelman took care of the entire organization of the event, a fine example of our Event services. In total, there were 7000 square meters of carpet and 1000 square meters of fabric, 500 lamps, 50 speakers, and large video screens. The largest video screen was 30 meters wide and 5 meters high.

What was truly a fine piece of technology this year were the moving LED screens that formed the decor. During a performance, these screens were provided with a live AI-generated background.

In addition to the plenary hall, a trade floor was also set up with various stands, where exhibitors could order their audiovisual needs (e.g., LED screens) from Heuvelman. In 2025, the Brainport Eindhoven region will be the setting for the conference; we look forward to making it a spectacle again.
