National Swimming Centre De Tongelreep is one of the Netherlands’ leading international swimming venues. For the new complex, Heuvelman delivered the public address and evacuation system. Reliable communication and safety are essential here, especially during top-level sporting events.
For many years, De Tongelreep has been a key location for national and international swimming competitions. Swimmers including world champions and Olympic medallists travel to Eindhoven for training sessions and major sporting events. In such environments, clear audio and a dependable evacuation system are crucial for both athletes and spectators.
Heuvelman previously equipped the Pieter van den Hoogenband Swim Stadium with a fixed sound system. That experience was carried forward into the new National Swimming Centre De Tongelreep. Swimming pools place specific demands on audiovisual technology due to factors such as reverberation, high humidity, chlorine vapours and the need to reach both spectators in the stands and swimmers in the water.
The Eindhoven city council approved the construction of the new complex. During the first phase, the instructional pool, 25-metre pool and competition pool were taken into use. In collaboration with NSC Beveiligingstechniek B.V., Heuvelman implemented an integrated public address and evacuation system that meets all safety and operational requirements.
As part of the installation, a server rack was lifted into the server room using a crane. New loudspeaker systems were installed in multiple pools and carefully tuned to the acoustics of each space. In a later project phase, additional pools will be completed and the system will be further expanded.
With this solution, Heuvelman contributes to a safe, intelligible and future-proof environment, fully aligned with the international ambitions of National Swimming Centre De Tongelreep.
