New Sound and Evacuation System for Eindhoven Swimming Pool

For years, the Tongelreep has been one of the most successful international swimming centers. Swimmers, including world champions and Olympic medalists, head to the Eindhoven pool to secure a spot on the podium. During such events, it is crucial that sound and evacuation systems function properly.

Upgrade Sound Quality

Heuvelman was tasked with equipping the Pieter van den Hoogenband swimming pool in Eindhoven with a permanent sound system. During this project, various factors had to be considered, such as using the right materials due to the presence of chlorine vapors, the echoing of the space, and reaching both the audience in the stands and the swimmers in the water.

Eight line arrays and various connection points for mobile sets have been installed. The line arrays from the JBL VRX900 SERIES were hung in the roof of the Pieter van den Hoogenband Swimming Pool in collaboration with Audio XL. This equipment is leading in the field of sound reinforcement in large spaces and is designed and built to high standards. They offer exceptional performance, clarity, flexibility, and of course, beautiful sound.

Safety a Key Focus of the Tongelreep

Safety is an important focus for the success of the Tongelreep. A reliable evacuation system is therefore of great importance. The expertise and knowledge of the Heuvelman team and its partners were extremely useful during the preliminary research and installation. First, an extensive investigation was conducted into the requirements and wishes for the new system. The choice quickly fell on a combination of products from Exentro. These products have excellent quality and have the necessary certifications.

The total solution works fully as expected and is adapted to the situation in the Tongelreep. Factors such as reflection have been taken into account.

"The integration of the system was a technically challenging task due to the setup of the central evacuation equipment across multiple locations in the building and the connection to an existing part of it. During the conversion period, the safety for visitors and staff had to be ensured with a working evacuation system. This added an extra dimension to the planning and execution, and we could only go home once the system was left operational despite the impactful conversion.
