Heuvelman partner of Microsoft Surface

Heuvelman sound & vision has become a partner of Microsoft Surface.

Microsoft Surface is the first commercially available surface computer from Microsoft Corp. It is a 76 cm display in a table-like form factor. Microsoft Surface uses cameras to sense objects, hand gestures and touch. This user input is then processed and the result is projected on the display using rear projection The cameras can also perceive objects if these have been tagged.

Users can operate Microsoft Surface with their fingers and in this way touch and move items on the display. An image processing system uses the camera to detect fingers, custom tags and everyday objects such as paint brushes. Microsoft Surface can also recognize objects that have been tagged, similar to a barcode. For example, if a user places a tagged wine glass on the display, Microsoft Surface could provide information about the wine.

Microsoft Surface can process as many as 52 touches at once. In other words, four people using ten fingers at the same time, plus another twelve objects placed on the display.

Heuvelman will use this application for letting and selling instructions. This application is perfect for use at fairs and events, but Microsoft Surface will also be a real eye-catcher at conventions.
